She gained some further recognition via a blog post from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her song Runaway. Make it a special day. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is that of finding a piano in her attic and being awed by the sounds it would make. Her parents May-Britt and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as a profession or a pastime, but to grow. Thus, she began writing her own songs. She cites renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as an affinity for Bjork's style. Responding to her mother's advice that she should not be aiming to be famous through the songs she writes, but rather be aware of the significance of them as well as their contribution to society. She started playing piano when she was six years old and started making music when she was 9 years old. It was unknown by her family until she was fourteen. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. As she says, she enjoys writing songs. The songs she creates are her way of feeling everything.
